FAQ

About Appointments & What to Expect:

Do I need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist?
No referral is required to see a physiotherapist for most patients.
A referral is required if your treatment is to be covered by a third party for a compensable injury or condition (eg. MAIB, DVA, Workers Compensation).

What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring any relevant medical history, including reports or scans, and private health insurance details (if applicable).

How long will my appointment last?
All appointments are 30 minutes in length unless otherwise advised by your physiotherapist or our staff.

What will happen during my first appointment?
Your physiotherapist will conduct a thorough assessment, which may include discussing your medical history, asking about your current condition, and performing a physical examination to understand your needs and develop a treatment plan.

Will I receive treatment on my first day?
Often, yes. Depending on your assessment, treatment may commence on the first day. This could involve hands-on therapy, exercises, or advice on managing your condition.

What should I wear to my physiotherapy sessions?
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows your physiotherapist to easily assess and treat the affected area. For example, shorts for leg issues or a singlet for shoulder problems.
